London has no single height limit like Paris, so its views come from two places: the river, which opens long sightlines between the bridges, and the towers of the City and Canary Wharf. This page ranks hotels by what the hotel itself says you can see, room by room.
Ranked by the strength of the evidence first (a room category that names the view), then by guest rating. Each hotel is shown for the landmark it sees best.

◌ SpaSince the 1930s the “St Paul’s Heights” rules have limited the height of buildings around the cathedral so its dome can be seen from the river and the bridges. The London View Management Framework, first published in 2007, protects further views of St Paul’s and the Palace of Westminster from places such as Primrose Hill and Parliament Hill.
The Great Fire of September 1666 destroyed most of the City of London, old St Paul’s included. Christopher Wren’s new cathedral was completed in 1710, and the Monument to the fire stands 61 metres tall, the distance from its base to where the fire began.
The Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St Margaret’s Church have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, and the Tower of London since 1988. Both sit on the Thames, which is why so many river-view rooms also see a monument.
The Shard, completed in 2012, is 310 metres tall. In the City, 22 Bishopsgate opened in 2020 and hosts Horizon 22, a free viewing gallery 254 metres up.
Each hotel with a stated view is counted once, in the nearest of these six areas (within 1.5 km). The price is the cheapest dated room that names the view in that area.

Times below are typical journey times from the operators; the Tube and trains take contactless cards, with a daily cap on fares.
The Elizabeth line runs straight into central London. The Heathrow Express reaches Paddington in about 15 minutes, and the Piccadilly line is the cheapest option.
The Gatwick Express reaches Victoria in about 30 minutes; Thameslink trains serve London Bridge and the City.
The Stansted Express runs to Liverpool Street. From Luton, the DART shuttle connects to trains for St Pancras. London City Airport is on the DLR, east of the centre.
Trains from Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam arrive at St Pancras International, next to King’s Cross.
11 Underground lines and 272 stations, plus the Elizabeth line, open since May 2022, which crosses the centre from east to west.
Big Ben and Tower Bridge are 3.4 km apart in a straight line, roughly 56 minutes’ walk by our estimate, most of it along the Thames Path.
The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all London boroughs since 29 August 2023, and a daily Congestion Charge applies in central London. Most visitors do without a car.
The sun sets before 4 pm in mid-December and after 9 pm around 21 June. In winter a river-view room shows the city lit up before dinner.
Big Ben strikes the hour and the quarter bells chime every 15 minutes. Rooms facing the Palace of Westminster hear it as well as see it.
Most disappointing “view” stays come from the same mistake: booking the hotel instead of the room. Here is the method we use to read every listing on this site.
Live prices and availability from our booking partner, around the landmarks on this page.
No. 3 hotels on this site have a room that names the view for €250 or less. The cheapest we found was €185 at Locke London Canary Wharf (4 stars).
Across 59 hotels where we priced both, the room that names the view cost a median 26% more than the hotel’s cheapest room on the same night.
All prices are for 12 November 2026, two adults, collected ahead of time and converted to euros by the booking site. They move daily, so check availability for your own dates.
